Setting up your first drop
- Install Drop Engine and open it from your Shopify admin under Apps.
- Click Schedule a drop, choose the product you want to drop and press Add. Pick the go-live date and time, then click Schedule drop. The product is immediately set to draft, so shoppers can't buy it early.
- In your theme editor, open the product template, click Add block → Apps → Drop waitlist, and save. Shoppers now see a "Notify me" form (and an optional countdown) on that page.
- At the scheduled time the product flips back to active automatically and everyone on the waitlist gets an email. You can also click Go live now to release it early.
FAQ
What happens to the product before the drop?
It's set to draft, which hides it from your storefront and from search. Scheduling a drop does not change price, inventory or anything else on the product.
Do shoppers get emailed automatically?
Yes. When a drop goes live, every waitlist subscriber for that product is emailed once, with a link to the product. Subscribers who have already been emailed are never emailed again for the same drop.
What if I cancel a drop?
Cancelling stops the scheduled release. The product stays a draft until you publish it yourself, and no launch email is sent.
Why is the countdown showing the wrong time?
The countdown in the storefront widget is set in the theme editor block settings, separately from the drop schedule. Make sure the block's go-live value matches the time you scheduled in the app.
What does the free plan include?
One active scheduled drop at a time, with the waitlist widget and launch emails included. Pro ($29/month, 14-day free trial) removes the limit so you can queue as many drops as you like.
How do I cancel Pro?
In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels → Drop Engine, and cancel the subscription. Billing is handled entirely by Shopify and appears on your regular Shopify invoice.
What happens when I uninstall?
Scheduled drops stop running and all data we hold for your store is deleted after Shopify's redaction request. Products that were left as drafts stay drafts — publish them from your admin if you want them live. See the privacy policy for details.
